Post-doc scholarship in the state of São Paulo, Brazil

I got surprised when I found out that the Research Agency of the State of São Paulo (FAPESP), in Brazil, have Post-doc scholarships which offer the same net income as post-doc scholarships from Belgium.
A post-doc scholarship from FAPESP is R$ 5,333 per month which is equivalent to EUR 2,271/month as of today (24 March 2010). The main difference is that post-docs in Belgium are tax-payers, while in Brazil it is a non-taxable scholarship.
